Whether you're stacking a touring rig, dialing in a fixed install, or building out a rental inventory, the right power amplifier or powered mixer is the backbone of your entire audio system. At Square Cable, we stock professional-grade amplifiers and powered mixers from the brands that perform when the stakes are high, and we vet every piece of gear before it hits our shelves.
Matching the right power amplifier to your speaker load isn't guesswork; it's engineering. From designing a fixed install to building out a touring package, or adding to your rental fleet, the amp is where signal chain decisions get real. Wattage headroom, damping factor, impedance compatibility, and protection circuitry all directly impact system performance, longevity, and how your rig holds up under extended use.
When evaluating power amplifiers for professional applications, the specs that move the needle are:
Square Cable serves production companies, rental houses, AV integrators, and wholesale distributors with dedicated account support, volume pricing, and fast fulfillment. Whether you're spec'ing amplifiers for a multi-room install, stocking a rental fleet, or building out a touring package, our team understands your workflow. Check your speaker's program power handling (not peak) and match your amp's RMS output at the correct impedance–typically 1.5x to 2x the speaker's RMS rating gives you clean headroom without running hot. Underpower is actually more dangerous than slight overpower in live environments because clipping destroys drivers fast. Always verify impedance compatibility before you bridge or daisy-chain cabinets.
Yes, both are industry standards for rental for good reason. Crown XLS amps hit hard on the power-per-dollar ratio, run cool in dense racks, and hold up to road abuse well. QSC amplifiers bring onboard DSP options and a reputation for thermal reliability in long-run events. Both are well-supported for warranty and parts. For rental house stocking, you really can't go wrong with either.
Many commercial-grade powered mixers support 70V/100V output, which is exactly what you need for distributed ceiling or in-wall speaker systems in restaurants, schools, and multi-zone commercial installs. Make sure the unit explicitly lists 70V compatibility — not all do. If you're running 8Ω cabinets in a point-source setup, standard outputs work fine. Check the spec sheet or reach out to our team if you need help matching gear to your install.
